Born in Cheshire in 1963, Julian Bailey studied at the Ruskin School of Art, Oxford (1982–1985), before completing an MA at the Royal Academy Schools (1985–1988). During this period he received several major awards, including the Turner Gold Medal (1986) and the Landseer Scholarship (1988). He has exhibited widely with numerous solo shows in London, notably at Browse & Darby, and his work is held in important public and private collections, including that of HRH The Prince of Wales. The artist lives and works in Dorset.
